YEAH! This Sega produced arcade driving racing game was released originally in 1994 as a coin-op machine and saw its debut on the Sega Saturn as a launch title in 1995. It is an arcade racing game, not a simulation game like Gran Turismo 5 or Ferrari Challenge. Drive one of one stock car looking cars around several different tracks. Daytona USA may not have much in the way of heavy hitting graphics but it does have awesome, fun gameplay and terrific replay value. The music is insane and …

the green car can drive on the grass without losing speed. it sounds random but it’s true — it’s one of the “secrets / tricks” in the game” and iirc there are a lot of them.

    To unlock Horse 2:

    To unlock Horse 2:

After activating Horse (by code or by beating the game, doesn’t really matter). Go to Options and set Laps to Endurance. Enter Saturn Mode, Choose Horse(either manual or automatic), Then choose Beginner track. Place 1st and you should be able to play as Horse 2 in Saturn Mode.

  4. AllieRX87 Says:

To unlock the Horse the easy way:

At the title and white screens, hold up and left on the d-pad (diagonally), and then hold A, B, X, Z, and press start.

To unlock the Horse the hard way:

Win all races with every difficulty option set at normal difficulty.

ALL calssic game room videos take ages to load. Fuck youtube, but fuck Classic Gameroom too for featuring their stuff in that uneccessary HD mode which ALWAYS slows down vids even when not using high quality…

  8. AllieRX87 Says:

Nice review. Too bad you didn’t mention you can play as a horse in this game.

Another painfully slow loading video, thanks youtube!!

But hey, it still counts as a view right? Even if I only watch 5 seconds of it and quite because of the buffering b.s.

  10. Chaldean007 Says:

If memory serves right, I do believe there is a code where you can turn your car into a horse. You basically race your horse against cars. lol

    Great game back then.

played this game so much when i got my sega saturn as a kid. ah, hearing the music fills me with so much nostalgia!

Was you playing this on an emulator because the frame rate on this video is very choppy. I still boot this up on my launch Japanese saturn every now and then, and it runs at a solid 30fps on the Japanese version.

  20. FistedByTrisha Says:

@Byakygan Back in the arcades, you got that every 30 seconds!

that is some good advice about the ipod, lol.

  22. Tryzon Says:

@alece1382 I was just the same. Ah, memories…

  23. Tryzon Says:

It’s surprising that the Saturn verion of Daytona is significantly better than the Dreamcast one, especially in terms of control. Just goes to show that graphics don’t make a game, not that any further proof was needed.

  24. Tryzon Says:

    @ProducoesTP

But the cheesy tunes are half the experience, friend! Obviously taking it seriously will do you no favours, but accepting it as silly and daft makes titles much more memorable, a prominent example being Daytona.
