It is an arcade racing game, not a simulation game like Gran Turismo 5 or Ferrari Challenge. Drive one of one stock car looking cars around several different tracks. Daytona USA may not have much in the way of heavy hitting graphics but it does have awesome, fun gameplay and terrific replay value. The music is insane and …

the green car can drive on the grass without losing speed. it sounds random but it’s true — it’s one of the “secrets / tricks” in the game” and iirc there are a lot of them.

ALL calssic game room videos take ages to load. Fuck youtube, but fuck Classic Gameroom too for featuring their stuff in that uneccessary HD mode which ALWAYS slows down vids even when not using high quality…

Another painfully slow loading video, thanks youtube!!
But hey, it still counts as a view right? Even if I only watch 5 seconds of it and quite because of the buffering b.s.

If memory serves right, I do believe there is a code where you can turn your car into a horse. You basically race your horse against cars. lol
Great game back then.

January 27th, 2010 at 8:59 pm
Was you playing this on an emulator because the frame rate on this video is very choppy. I still boot this up on my launch Japanese saturn every now and then, and it runs at a solid 30fps on the Japanese version.

It’s surprising that the Saturn verion of Daytona is significantly better than the Dreamcast one, especially in terms of control. Just goes to show that graphics don’t make a game, not that any further proof was needed.

@ProducoesTP
But the cheesy tunes are half the experience, friend! Obviously taking it seriously will do you no favours, but accepting it as silly and daft makes titles much more memorable, a prominent example being Daytona.
