Classic Game Room HD reviews TEST DRIVE II THE DUEL for Sega Genesis from Acclaim. This driving game was originally released for the PC in 1989 and found its way to the Sega Genesis (Sega Megadrive) in 1992. It can also be played on Tandy! It was a remarkable game at the time and allowed players to drive a Ferrari F40 or a Porsche 959 against each other in a duel! The Sega Genesis version of the game added in a Lamborghini Diablo. This CGRHD review of Test Drive 2 The Duel has gameplay footage from Test Drive II The Duel recorded from Sega Mega Drive. Also features the original 5 1/4″ floppy discs for the PC version including the Supercars pack for Test Drive II, the Muscle Cars pack for Test Drive 2 and the California track extender! Wow! You know that’s hype and you want these floppy disks but you don’t got em, CGR does! The Supercar car disk extender is the best and features a Lamborghini Countach, RUF Yellow Bird, Ferrari Testarossa, Lotus Esprit and Corvette ZR1. This is an awesome driving race car video game and CGRHD loves it from back in the day… although it’s a little clunky today. The series continues today with Test Drive Unlimited published by Atari. This game is also called THE DUEL: TEST DRIVE 2 and playes on IBM PC 286 and PS/2.

commodore screwed up a little with the amiga 1200 (also transformed in to the amiga cd32 console) which was not up with pc tech at the time and wasn’t cheap either. but the main reason why they dropped out was because they went bankrupt in 1994.

I seriously love the music Mark chooses for these reviews.
I thought I’d be sick of the CGR theme by now, but I love it even more.
This bossa nova track at the start of this episode just makes it all the better.
MARK RULES!

@aklovl1980 I also had an Amiga 500. The best series of computer of all time… I’m sure if they had continued producing it Microsoft would be broken by now… So advanced for its time… Too bad the world didn’t get it…

good framerate!

what’s cool is that you can blow up the engine with too much rpm in this game.
I had never seen that before in a racing game when I played it on the amiga 500 many years ago.
i still have the amiga and test dtive 1 and 2.
awsome game.

I remember being in 3rd grade and couldn’t wait to play Dual Test Drive 2. Now after 19 years. I am living the dream. Nothing like driving up in an exotic at a small gas station. This game rolls into my mind every time I fill up an exotic at a small gas station.

Definitely have great memories of this game, and this review brought them all rushing back. I used to borrow this game from my brother’s friend in the early 90s, and I loved it.

You just got a little speeding ticket that appeared in the windscreen.
I don’t think there was a limit to how many you could get (unlike the first Need For Speed game where you got arrested for the second offence), but obviously you lost time with each one.
