    motorex is the solo import of R32, R33 and R34 skylines because they have a fenderal bond to do so because they fix it to me US standards and if u bought a r34 in canada and drove it here to keep and if you get caught then u r seriously screwed

    @wannaR33 is motorex like a proprietary legal importer or something? Also I have seen an r34 for sale in canada.. if I bought that and drove it into the u.s. what about then? I don’t have any issues with r33s they are awesome cars but If I’m spending 60k on a vehicle I want it to be exactly what I’m looking for… I wonder why paul walker would ever sell his..? he must be goin broke or something haha

  18. FDoomed Says:

    @FDoomed if you live in canada :)

    @wannaR33 or wait till 2014 :)

    @m1brett Basically, the only way you can get an R34 is if you find one for sale that was imported by Motorex. Paul Walker had his for sale on the Dupont Registry website a while back for about $120k. I know of about 4 R33 GT-R’s, legal, imported my Motorex, that are for sale. The prices range from $40k-$65k. If you’re interested in those, let me know and I’ll get you what information I have. I know you want the R34, but they are almost impossible to get anymore. Hope this helps.

    @m1brett With emissions, it’s more than just a restricted pipe. The ‘94 Clean Air Act required all cars manufactured after 1995 to be equipped with an OBD II sensor, which has to be installed on the Skyline. They usually use one from a 300ZX Twin Turbo. They also have to have specific safety lighting installed on the side, as well as reinforcement made to the doors and fire wall (based on crash test data). They also are required to have passenger side air bags.

  22. wannaR33 Says:

    @m1brett To answer your question, Skylines are only illegal if they were not modified to meet U.S. regs when brought in. If a Skyline owner has a DOT bond release letter stating the proper work has been done, they are free to enjoy their car. Many people have tried “back doors” to getting a Skyline. Some have brought them in as kit cars. This is illegal. The government has been on a tear lately reposessing illegal Skylines.

  23. wannaR33 Says:

    @m1brett (continued). You also have to post a bond of 1.5 times the cars value promising that the work will be done. You get this money back after the EPA and NHTSA confirm that your car has had the proper modifications done. When the car reaches the U.S. you have 120 days to bring the car into compliance. After that the car is exported or trashed (if the work is not done). There is of course, all the paperwork, customs fees, taxes, dock fees, etc. that are involved. I won’t go into detail.

  24. wannaR33 Says:

    @m1brett (continued) Crash test data is also required. The reason an R33 is still eligible for import is because Motorex brought over numerous R33’s and submitted them for crash testing (expensive process). No R34’s have crash test data. 2nd step, either you are a registered importer or you have a contract with one to work on the car when it gets here. Only RI’s can do the work on a car (a list of RI’s is at the NHTSA website).

  25. wannaR33 Says:

    @m1brett An R34 is illegal. If you want to import a car, here’s how it goes. 1) The car must be eligible to be imported as determined by the NHTSA. They have an entire list on their website of eligible vehicles. Again, these vehicles are eligible because they comply to U.S. regulations, or can comply through modifications. No Skyline was made to comply with U.S. regs. Even stock, they won’t pass emissions.
